Ford 3600 bolster pin

I pulled my 3600 in for spring service and I noticed that the front axle is starting to chew away at the bolster pin. I'm running out of time now, I will need the loader to pick stones. Wondering if anybody out there has had this pin fail? Thanks in advance for any replies...John

Just replaced the pin and sleeve on my 3600, wasn't a bad job. Took me two days but most anybody else could easily do it in a day. I would be more concerned about messing up the bolster that pin is made out of some hard s#it.

We're you able to do it with loader and pump still on? Need to do mine. I do have a different loader though.

Actually just try to figure out how to go about it, so just pulled loader ahead to gain access to the area. If i go ahead with it, the loader and front cowl has to come off, im guessin.

What model loader is that? I've never seen one that slides forward like that. Learn something new every day.

Hi Shaun, thats an Ezee-On loader, i believe built in Alberta, bought it 10 years ago from a dealer, was on a Ford 2000 from an estate sale, in very good shape, i
made it fit my 3600 with some blue wrenching. ya slides off easy and mounts super easy too.....John

Forgot to mention, i built the 4x6 tube frame that attaches to the clutch housing, bolts to the loader slide frame and attaches to the rear axle. Wanted to beef
it up a little because its not a super heavy duty, good for pushin snow thou

I would wager the center axle is already trashed... I would have a good one lined up just in case  Worst case its a job to weld up are bore out and machine for a new bushing... I doubt you will turn that job around fast the fast way is to have a good center axle on standby...

Jack the front up and support it under the front mount. Remove the large bolts that hold the axels to the bolster and spread the wheels out far enough you can get the bolster out. on the 3600 the cowl is only 4 bolts and 3 hoses, 6 bolts if you haven't already removed the hood. I use some 1/2 inch aluminum I had to make plugs for the cooler lines.

My pin came out with my 1/2 inch impact, bushing required lots of heat on the inside of the bushing and a press to get it out. Turn the bolster over when you put it back together.
