Ford 4000 turns over with key off

Can someone help me. I have a 1966 ford 4000 gas. It wouldn't turn over, i put jumper cables on it and it started to turn over with key in off position.

ive the solenoid a sharp rap with heavy handle or non damaging wrap with a hammer.
 
Either the key switch is bad or the solenoid is stuck closed. Were you holding the key switch in the "Start" position for a while when it wouldn't turn over before you attached the jumper cables? If so, then it is probably that the solenoid welded itself closed. Current across the secondary contacts of the solenoid, which is too low to get the starter to crank will still heat things up and can weld the contacts so they don't release when you turn the key off. If a mild to moderate tap doesn't free it up then a new solenoid is in order.

Also, I would remove, check, clean and tighten all of the electrical connections involved in the starter circuit, both ends of both battery cables as well as both ends of the solenoid-to-starter cable, as they might have gotten hot as well, which can cause more issues down the road.
