5600 pto brake problems

Hello,

When ever I disengage my pto it doesn't stop spinning unless its put under a load I pulled my lift cover off. And thought the pto band brake was broken and it's fine.

Is there any kind of other problems anyone has seen that would cause this other then a broken band. Thanks

It's likely out of adjustment and the actuating lever is bottoming out. Take a small screwdriver and pry the actuating lever out manually. If it bottoms out, you need to adjust it.

All that said, as I sit here and think about it some more, the band likely is broken at one of the loop ends. You likely just can't see it with the whole assembly in place. I've seen that happen multiple times. I would lean towards this theory if the brake was working just fine one day and not at all the next.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was thinking that too its out of adjustment I can take the band and move it side to side very easy and loosely. I'll try to pry the lever and take a closer and look at the loop ends on the weekend here.

When it first happened I remember the pto was intermediary stopping and spinning then eventually not stopping at all

Thanks again

I looked at it and the lever does bottom out and I can still move the pto freely.

I didint notice any thing bent or anything on the loops on the band but I think I'm just gonna replace it while I got it all apart

Thank you

If I were a betting man I'd say one of those loops is broken and you just can't see it from where it sits right now. Either way, it sounds like the band is being replaced.
