53 Jubilee axle issues

Rebuilding rear axle on my 53 Jubilee. Have shop manual, worthless - shows exploded view of parts, some of which I don't think even exists any longer? Can't find any tutorials, videos or "how to" stuff on the internet. Can anyone give me any guidance? I'm a complete novice, my benefit is time. I'm in no rush, this is a hobby.

A shop manual is far from worthless. You either don't have a real shop manual, or you're not taking the time to read and understand it. One
thing is for sure - I'm not typing out all of the steps. If you have as much time as you say you do, start reading and studying the
illustrations.

What is it you are currently having trouble with?
Ring gear, pinion, axle seals, brakes?
Specifics are much easier to help with then a general rebuild.

I have an original copy of the For Jubilee shop manual. The illustrations are helpful such that all the parts are listed. But, as many others have commented, other than myself - the instructions are often... if axle shims are worn replace axle. OK for an experienced mechanic (which it appears you are) thats fine. I was hoping for a step by step tutorial. Including recommendations, such as axle bearing is press fit and will require hydraulic press etc etc. Was just surprised on the paucity of info out there. I would have thought the internet would have reams of written and video examples.

MY APOLOGIES. After reading Bern's comment I went back and reviewed the shop manual and they do indeed give a more detailed explanation. Thank you Bern. One thing I'm still confused by though is the diagram shows the exploded view which is somewhat misleading. The detailed explanation mentions a cork seal that appears to be one of the last items to apply before completion, yet appears very deep in the axle housing? Thoughts?

If I remember correctly you have to pack the bearing with wheel bearing grease as the seal is behind the bearing.

The cork goes between the bearing and the retainer as shown in the parts diagram, and is an integral part of the sealing process. Make sure
it gets installed. It is not "deep in the housing".
