We went to look at some tires north of
the Twin Cities today.
On the way home we stopped at a small
boneyard and had a look around.
The first thing that caught my eye was
what looked like gold paint under the
red on this 871.
I don't know the range of serial
numbers on the GDs but know some of you
do.
The transmission must have been changed
out as it was red under red.
Thought I'd pass the info along in case
someone was wanting one.
There was some other Ford stuff there a
few 00s and 01s, one 5000d SOS, etc.
There was about 14" of snow and it was
slippery so we didn't go through
everything but will this spring or
summer sometime.
It was a fun day with my great pal
Kenny.

Baler don't look all that bad...has about the same fat car tire that we have on ours...maybe I'd better git to the farm and see if it's still there!
No wait different pto shaft and more rust.

going from memory here, but I think the were build between the end of Jan,1959 and Mar,1959 which was something like serial # 60K to 70K. So I think you are right, nice find.

Numbers are about in the middle of the gold demo run. 60646/71K recall trans would be red. Numbers would be on the other side of bell housing. Dealer was to stamp old serial numbers back on trans. Guess he couldn't find his diamond stamp that day. Doesn't look like much is missing of the tractor, may have recently got it in or slow yard?

Were you at Gotvald in Hillman? I try to get there and a yard east of Cambridge when I visit family in MN. It would never hurt to have another 5000 SOS around (unless my wife found out).
