Ford 4630 replacement instruments - no temp gauge

I replaced my faded 4630 instrument cluster with a new aftermarket unit. My temp gauge worked in my old unit but will not register at all in my new unit. I know the correct wire got hooked to the terminal at the temp gauge. With an ohm meter what how do I check to confirm
1) my sending unit is good (should be as I did not change this and it worked with old unit)
2) gauge is good

I assume some ohm readings associated with these can be read and confirmed. Thanks for any instruction.

Take the wire off at the sender and touch it to a good clean ground and see if the gauge moves.

Gauges moves with wire connected to ground. I assume this means I have a bad sending unit? Very odd my gauge worked fine until I replaced my instrument cluster. Could something else be going on?

Ran my 4630 for several hours today pulling a 10’ mower. The temp gauge barely moves into the green with his new aftermarket gauge cluster. See attached photo. With my original gauge cluster and the same sending unit my temp read about 1/3 of the way from the cold side of the gauge always. I expect my new gauge and sending unit aren’t compatible? I did ground my gauge and it went all the way hot so the gauge appears to work Correctly.

Your sending unit may have a bad ground. Measure the resistance from the negative battery terminal to the temperature sending unit housing. Be sure you disconnect the positive terminal so you don't fry your meter. If you get more than an ohm resistance there is a bad ground somewhere. Also make sure your instrument cluster is properly grounded the same way. I know you said you checked the gauge, just humor me in my madness. You want to make sure all of the gauges are grounded preferably at the same point as sometimes you can get ground loops when a faulty gauge ground feeds back through another gauge. I probably used the term ground loop improperly.

If all checks out remove the temperature sending and using your ohm meter check out the resistance cold and after you immerse the base of the sending unit in a cup/pot of boiling water. It helps if you have alligator jumper clips so you can do this real time.
