A little help stabbing a ford 3000 distributor

Any kind soul out there have a good quick way to install a new mechanical advance distributor on a gasser ford 3000? I just bought a new one.
This one has the mechanical advance system so I am removing the original vacuum line. Do I just plug the hole on the intake plenum? And any advice on this new dizzy setup would be great appreciated.

The original distributor had both mechanical and vacuum advance mechanisms. I am not familiar with any new replacement that only has mechanical advance, but if you have such a beast, then yes, cap or plug the vacuum hole on the intake.

Line up your timing mark 0* (sight window visible at trans housing/flywheel on RH side of tractor below radius arm). Mark the aluminum bodywith a sharpie where #1 plug wire lines up, pull the cap off, make sure the rotor is pointing to that mark you made and drop the dizzy in making sure the rotor still lines up with your mark. Leave the vac line disconnected and plugged, it should start and run, set your timing.... 2*+-2*

Then reattach the vac advance line.

If the distributor has an angled gear, you might have to "backup" the insertion so that when the dist is firmly seated, the rotor points at number one. Since the cam gear is stationay the dist gear has to rotate a little as it's going down into the mesh. It doesn't have to be perfect, just close. The rotating of the distributor before you clamp it down is what gets you in the sweet spot.

Remove distributor cap and rotate engine until rotor is pointing straight up/down/left/right (it doesn't matter). Reinsert your new distributor with rotor coming to rest in the same position as original distributor. DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE WHILE THE DISTRIBUTOR IS OUT.

Plug vacuum line and use timing light to set timing - Be sure to verify total advance at full throttle.
