Ford 8600 wiring

I purchased a new to me 8600 towards end of last year. Used it some and liking it so far. I am trying to clean up some wiring and add some lights that my son thinks since they are there they need to work, he likes the cab so he can ride along and help with hay cutting.

Out of the alternator side wire harness is a bunch (4 maybe 5)of wires just hanging. I would like to find out what they go to if possible. I believe they come out of the factory wire harness. So far all my gauges ( except temp) and factory cab lights are working.
Any help in color code or other info would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys
Matt

Matt,
Is the alternator original? If it has been replaced with say a 10SI, that would explain the wires hanging.

IIRC, The original alternator of that time had an external voltage regulator. Those wires more than likely go there.

A 10SI is internally regulated, is much cheaper, and is easily found.

Here are the wiring diagrams for an 8000. They should be the same. If they're not, perhaps Bern will chime in. Please note that some of the images are for generator equipped tractors so will not apply to yours if you have an alternator. Hope this helps!

(quoted from post at 09:57:23 02/14/18) Larry,
That looks as if it might answer some questions but it is very hard to read. Anything can be done to make it a better quality? Or just email it to me? [email protected]

Thanks
Matt

Sent you a pdf on email. It appears to be much more legible. I could blow this one up just by enlarging the reply I sent you on my screen, but then it seemed important parts of it became fuzzy. Dunno why it imported it so small or how to change it on here.

Thanks Larry! I got it this am and it printed off great! Just looking at pictures shows a lot of the wires in question. And even more for me to look at.

Thanks Again!
Matt
