7000 turbo

I think the turbo is going out or is out on my 7000..it
smokes excessively I don't hear the whistle
anymore..I started it without air filter in and made no
difference..anything else I can check before I
remove the turbo?..what does a turbo cost these
days ?..thanks

Messick's lists a 7000 turbo @ $1457.68. I've had a turbo stick and had to break it loose before. You might check that out.

Might your excess fuel button on the injection pump be stuck in? Ours did that once.

It is probably coked up. Just remove the intake pipe and see if it spins freely. Mine did not. I simply removed the oil inlet pipe, and sprayed some WD-40 in. I spun the wheel then sprayed some more. I was getting black gunk out. It took maybe 20 minutes and it was spinning free, and it has been good since.
