Does anybody have a picture or diagram showing the brakes and where everything goes? I'm getting ready to replace mine and I'm not sure about where the return springs go. Right now the long spring is in the same hole as the short ones are in where they attach to the brake shoe. But right behind that hole and a little bit higher is another small hole. I don't know if anyone was ever in there or not so I'm not 100% certain and I really don't want to go back in there I'd rather do it right the first time. The pedal goes way down and I have to use my toe to pull it up. I adjusted them out tight but still brakes don't exactly work. The shoes have a good bit on them slick looking and the bottom one seems to be worn thin at the back. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The small holes at 12/6 O'clock are for pins for the hold-down springs/washers.

Reference the online parts diagram for an illustration.

Tip: Thoroughly clean or replace the brake shoe pins and apply anti-seize if you want to be able to remove them 10 years from now.

Check the slop in the brake crosshaft bushing in the rear axle. For some reason it seems to be the right side thats always worn. I'm lefthanded and like to turn left. Do righthanders like to turn right?

Sorry for the nasty photo but maybe it will help your sort things out.

Thanks for the picture and all of the help my friends. Mine is right according to the picture. I think now I'll go ahead and put a new hardware kit and shoes on it and be done with it. Everything looks ok but since I'm in there already I figure go ahead and do it.
