Another 3000 spark question

I think I am the victim (again!) of an inferior set of points. These are Blue Streak, but need replacing. I have had to file them twice so am going to replace them.
Does anyone have a suggestion for working on this distributor? It is under the manifold & so close to it I can barely remove the cap! Makes it VERY difficult setting points!

For one, I would stop using a file on the points.
That was normal on the old sets that were of good quality.
On today's points, they are pretty much done once you do it.
Burnish them with card stock or a piece of brown paper bag instead.

Are they BlueStreak with the phenolic rubbing block or the
cheap ones with the plastic rubbing block? Sadly, they are sold
in both varieties now. Nothing stays the same.

I agree that the clearance is difficult to get into.
I have not put EI in mine yet. Had a bad experience on an 8N.
But I may try it again when my points need replaced on my 3000s.

Thanks Royse. The problem has been not getting done pushing snow when the tractor dies! Got to get it going quick to finish!
I am quite sure they are the good ones, but I am not happy w/how the contacts line up. I plan tp pick up a new set today & will make sure they are the "good" ones!

When I do them, I just make myself go real slow and careful. I use an extra long magnetized screwdriver, and have found that even with new good quality points, if I'm going in there for a spark problem, I replace em.....

Last one I was working on, the owner had it stalled in the middle of his lot under the blazing sun, cleaning them got it to run enough to go 150' to his carport before it died and I could work on it in the shade.
