Maybe some of you remember my post some time back about an 841 I turned on to my neighbor. Anyway he bought it from this elderly lady and we drug it outta the woods into a field where we laded it onto his trailer. We had it running on its own once but then it hut down and wouldn't run until it got a breath of ether. We diagnosed it to the Roosamaster injection pump so he took it in and had it rebuilt. She is now running again with a stuck clutch. He had redo several hydraulic lines so the loader and backhoe all work ok now. Anybody out there have a tried and true method for breaking the clutch loose.

The way that works every time is to split the tractor in two and
replace the clutch. May want to resurface the flywheel too.
After 10 years, that may be the route to go.

Another way to try is driving it around in an open field while
holding the clutch down and pressing the brakes.
I would think dragging that hoe or pushing the loader into
some dirt with the clutch depressed might work quite well too.

Just flip back a few pages. Stuck clutch is on the every other week schedule. Hundreds of posts. I just put one up yesterday.

Not sure why but this tractor had a ton of free pedal play. We adjusted the Turnbuckle to the max. His latest thought works be to make a shorter clutch rod and see if he can get some more movement in the pressure plate.

I had a clutch disc where the lining had come off 1 side. It could also be the heavy industrial clutch like i have in a parked 4030. Its not a fiber disc, I think sintered iron. Its been stuck for a long time. The boarding down the clutch pedal didnt work with it.

Hi Just curious, are you sure that is a 841?

That was video of trying to break the clutch loose? Looks to me like he was simply taking it for a joy ride.

Breaking the clutch loose usually requires several sharp jabs on the brake pedals with the clutch pedal down.

The brakes aren't working yet Bern so by the time I had started the video he had already tried a few jabs with the bucket into the gravel.

Just that the front axle is not the one typically found on a AG tractor. 800 and 801's had the adjustable front axle, your looks like a industrial front that would have come on the 2/4030 or 2/4130 tractors. I know the 800s and 801s had a heavy duty version with the bigger front axle and bolt, but all the ones I have come across where all adjustable. Does your tractor have the diesel box style air cleaner or the pipe style? The 20,214 serial puts this tractor as a 1958(Feb) build, I think that would still be the box style type. Wondering if the tractor's transmission might have been switched. Does the tractor have a gas foot pedal(right side) or seat back rest? Is there a cut out where the sos shifter would have been? I think that your tractor is a Ford Industrial 40300 or 40303 that was build between about 1960 and 1963. The backhoe is it the earlier 713 or later 723?

I have no idea, it belongs to my neighbor

Does the tractor have a gas foot pedal(right side) or seat back rest?

No gas pedal and no back rest, typical metal butt Pan

The backhoe is it the earlier 713 or later 723?

No visible model # on the backhoe

Is there a cut out where the sos shifter would have been?

No SOS cutout, just typical 4 speed with Sherman Hi-Lo

I have a 4000 (same style as yours) that had a stuck clutch after sitting for a few years. Moving and hitting the brakes wasn't breaking it loose. After about an hour of trying that, even on pavement, I did the same in reverse and it broke free very quickly. I'm not sure if the forward had gotten it 90% before trying the reverse, or if the combination of forward and reverse was necessary, or if reverse alone would have done the trick. But I would recommend doing both forward and reverse until it frees up.
