Good Morning Everyone and thanks for having me!

I picked up a 73 Ford 2000 (gas) about a month ago and she runs but has some idle issues. It revs up and down at idle and when wide open. cleaned, replaced spring but it is still idling up and down sporadicly but never dies.

I pulled the carb again and cleaned it but haven't put it back on. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Mossman,
Welcome to the Ford board.
Those are great small tractors.
I would have a look at the governor.
I'm pretty sure you can remove the governor
cover and arm without pulling the radiator.
Pull the cover off and grab the bell and see if
it will slide in and out with the tips of your
fingers. It Must slide easily.
There is a small oil line under the governor
body/distributer that feeds oil from the block
to the gov body that lubes the governor.
We have seen a couple of times where that oil
line got blocked and no oil was getting to the
gov internals and they got gummed up.
Then the gov bell would not slide and not work
properly.
I recommend you do not adjust the governor arms
unless you first have read the manual.

Thanks UltraDog! I will try that tomorrow. Looking forward to getting her back to glory. I'll keep you posted.

Aaron
