Ford 2000 running problem

Have a 1968 Ford 2000 3 cylinder has a problem after sitting all night long doesn't want to start.
Replaced distributor, points, condenser, plugs, wires, cap, roter and coil. Rebuilt carberator with kit.

After it gets cold does not want to start and as I keep trying it improves, what am I missing ?

Why did you not keep the choke on, half way???? This is not an "automatic choke" engine, You need to keep the choke pulled at least half way for the first 20 seconds, and feather it in a bit as it warms up. Then after about 2 minutes or more, you can ease it all the way in. It will still run a bit sluggish for up to 5 minutes as its warms up enough to correctly vaporize the fuel mixture.

(PLus it seemed to be spitting gas back out the carb due to bad/leaking intake valve, or advanced timing, or float set too high..) However the (some) choke is definitely required for the first couple of minutes till it smooths out and warms up the cyl a bit. NOt so much in summer time, but always so in cooler weather.

I f I keep the choke out 1/2 way it stalls out faster seems like it getting to much gas....

Have you tried starting Before you turn the gas on.?

Maybe turn the gas on for a minute and then Shut it off and see if the tractor starts better..

okay,, not needing a bit of choke cold means....its running too rich... because......

the float needle valve is leaking and overfilling the carb, so when sitting, the bowl is over full. the float is set too high, power valve is leaking, if holley carb.

Or as it was spitting gas backwards out the carb, a intake valve is leaking, burnt, or set too tight, or an exhaust valve is failling to open on one cyl or set too loose, both making it spit backwards out the carb. Run a compression test to determine that the valves are working correctly on all cyls.

Timing set wrong, fouled plugs, low compression, bad lobe on cam, bad points.. etc etc etc etc.

Check your coil connections. If negative ground, -- on coil to side of distributor. If positive ground + on coil to side of distributor.

If coil is wired in reverse, hard start when cold can be one of the symptoms. Probably not your primary problem but could be an aggravating factor.
