Someone posted on a thread awhile back a couple of pn's for the O-rings I needed to put my hyd pump back on my '63 diesel 4000 SOS. I can't find that thread for nothing!

Could someone please give me the pn's for the O-rings to buy from YT, or else where. I need both of the O-rings to mount the pump to the manifold, and both to mount the manifold to the transmission.

I also need the o-ring pn for the injector pump shaft.

I would like to get the square O-rings if possible. But I rather not have to buy 10-50 of each.

I'm getting ready to reassemble my tractor engine, and getting a order ready to buy from YT.

Thanks, Pat

Dash 214and -216 for manifold and hyd pump and -216 for inj pump. They are avaible at good hyd shop in square, quad ring or just plain ole round.

The easiest and quickest place to get the proper square cut O rings is your CNH dealer.

Yes, they will likely need to order them and you always pay a premium for buying in single quantities, but the O rings will be correct.

For the owner who is not in the repair business and will likely never buy another such O ring, CNH works.

They get them from china the same place everyone else does... There markup is around 2000% a $5 investment will yield several hundred dollars why would they have to order them if it were me I would keep a 5 gal buck full of'em...

There’s nuttin special about their O-rings other than the price and folks won’t take the time to learn how to size them…

Dean,
I was in tool & Die for ever. I can not tell you how many o-ring groves I've cut, and how many O-rings I have made, in 40 yrs!

But by the time I buy all the different o-ring material for the different sizes, I'd pay more then I could buy the pre made one for. lol

Thanks Hobo,
for the numbers, and sizes. I will get them from Ace hardware. They stock a crap load of different sizes of them.

There is no CNH near me, there is nothing near me! lol 50 miles, or more at least.

The price reflects the cost of distribution in single quantities. You pay for the convenience.

I've probably bought 2 or three pairs in my life and each time I expected that I would never buy another set.

Most dealers will need to order them because there is little demand for parts for mid 50s vintage Ford tractors these days so the dealers do not keep them in stock.

Perhaps a hydraulic supply house would keep such O rings in stock but I have no such business nearby whereas my CNH dealer is four miles away.

No, there is nothing special about the O rings. The cost is in the distribution channel. Marketing 101.

I deal with o-rings all the time I need it now and don't feel the need to fat'N up my dealer and waist hours over a 25 cent o-ring...

I will admit it was not always this EZ for me... I have a retired machinist customer that spent his life dealing with making parts that use o-rings... With his help I picked up on it fast its not that hard... I don't know why you want to fight something so simple the engineer that designed them don't have much on ya other than its there game...

What size o-ring do I need for my injection pump.

Are there any other O-rings I should replace while I have things apart on the engine?

Is there suppose to be a O-ring on my fuel filter, at the drain & air bleeder? Or are those suppose to be gaskets. I don't have them at all to see what was there.

Thanks, Pat

Don't know you could measure them and figure it out... I never worked on a Ford diesel engine if I had I would have figured it out.

From my stash I picked up a few o-ring kits in the pix they handle almost every thing other that AC o-rings I have ran across...

If you have a extra $50 to burn a o-ring sizing cone.

The top seals on the second stage of my transmission jack started to leak today it took about 20 min the o-ring kits had every o-ring I needed (3). Whats not in the kits a -013, -117 and a few more numbers I just picked up a bag of'em.... A local mill supply store also is well stocked on most sizes... You need to find out if you have any local mill/industrial supply houses in your area. Its probably easier for some to run to there local CNH store and flop down a $100 for a small hand full of o-rings tho...

I had put the o-ring in my car a long time ago, to pick-up a new one, but can't find it now. So I don't have the old one to size.

I don't have my o-ring stuff I use to, from when I had my shop. I use to stock them from 1/4" id to 2", then make them to 10-12" dia. What ever I needed. 3/32-1/4" dia, Standard & high heat, some orange (soft), but mostly black, by the roll. I use to have a couple of the same box's O-rings you show.

But sold it off before I moved from Mn, with most my machining stuff. Big mistake was not keeping a Bridgeport & the small lathe!
