Remember that odd 4000 with the side pump I
posted about the other day?
It looks like it's official that they made at
least one of them.

Yup, 4000 ag chassis with gas engine, non-live PTO and a 6 speed transmission. I think that after a certain date that was the least expensive 4000 ag chassis setup you could buy. I think I've heard from some folks that there were some very early ones sold with a 4 speed and non-live PTO, but others have said that there were no 3 cylinder 4000's ever sold with a 4 speed so I'm not 100% sure on that. If anyone has ever seen a 3 cylinder 4000 with a 4 speed in person it would be nice to hear from you.

72 model as well, that is rare, the one I seen years ago was a 65-66.

C does stand for 8x2 trans

Sean probably typo'd it after looking at all of the B's in the production dates

B stands for 6x2

I've never seen a 4000 with a 6x2 trans.

Sorry, my head hasn't been on straight for the last week or so. Still getting over some sort of cold. You are right it should be an 8 speed.

(quoted from post at 10:51:52 01/27/18) Always and Never just aren?t part of the Ford Tractor Operations vernacular.
aybe they just came in to work and said, "what parts do we have today? "can we build a tractor out of that collection?"
