Hello,
I have been lurking on the forum for a month or so since I purchased my new (to me) Ford 600 series 650. I appreciate the wealth of
knowledge on here and would love some advise.
I am trying to get the old girl in shape for the Spring. When I purchased I notice the lift wasn't going up all the way, but got the bush
hog off the ground with enough clearance. I changed all my fluids in the transmission, hydraulics and differential/rear end.
The hydraulic lift is just bothering me, as I know its not working as it should. It will lift more than half way with or without
attachment and can manually push arms up another few inches but will fall down when no implement attached to the highest point it can go
currently. So, I know it can lift higher. When it lifts is just really slow but not jerky. It will not hold impliement up over night, it
will slowly fall back down.
Where should I start looking first? The piston and o rings beneath the seat? The pump? The pump lines? After the fluid change I put air
compressor on HYD dipstick hole to pressurize the system and got the lift working faster. However, I saw a little oil leaking out of the
bell housing weep hole under tranny. I read that is there to keep oil out of clutch. Not sure if that is hydraulic oil or not, as using
UTF. It is not leaking anymore while running, just when I put the air in the dipstick opening. It seems if its the pump lines/tubes that I
will be a real pain as need to split the tractor? That maybe more that my expertise.
Should I event worry about it as getting bushhog and box blade off the ground?
