Ford 640 throttle

The throttle won't stay in any position but idle ,when I try to rev it up as soon as I take my hand off the lever it goes back to idle. I'm thinking the friction disk is shot. Is it possible to make one from cork gasket material? The spring that hooks to battery box was missing so I put one on. Not sure if it is strong enough, maybe part of it.....

Just tighten the nut above the friction disc about a quarter turn

The repop discs are made of plastic and they are maybe $2.00 at your corner old Ford parts store.

(quoted from post at 13:21:44 01/23/18) Thought I read it somewhere (
maybe here).

Yes pa, probably every six to nine months some will ask here, "where is that spring under the battery supposed to hook to?"

I got a pretty good pic of where the spring hooks on the rotating part of the throttle. The other end hangs off the battery box

Yep. Then someone like me goes out
and looks and then says " hey I
ain't got a spring". I got one
now. A spare from who knows what.
It ain't strong enough, I will
just order the correct one.

Mine don't need a spring. I got it tensioned so the throttle stays where I put it. Still easy enuf to return to idle
