A 9600 recently came up for sale needs a water pump so they say..runs good good sheet metal and rubber it also has a cab which I could take or leave..the price is 3500.00 central MN..is this the going rate?
 
If it runs and moves well and has decent rubber it?s a fair price. Just don?t plan on removing the cab and finding fenders. They are nearly impossible to locate.
 
My 8000 I removed the cab easily, whole platform was left, the right console with control levers and fuel tank standing there, next owner bought pair of fenders for 500 from salvage yard and bolted em on, was pretty simple
 
A couple sheets of plywood for fenders would make some guys happy. I guess I should have suggested it is difficult to find the correct fenders for 8000-9600 tractors.
 

Sounds like a steal. I have seen one where the upper part of the cab was cut off so that the steel fenders were still there. The cabs are notoriously loud, but you could always put a kit in it to quiet it some.
 

When its cold out the cab heat is nice. When we had our 9000 we drilled and tapped a port on the water pump neck for the heater. The heater would roast you out of the cab. The cab isn’t that loud.....

That's not loud????? That'd drive me batty listening to that for very long!

At least the neighbors knew what I was doing. That thing had power. I fitted a TW30 turbo to it. When chopping corn on a calm day you use had to look for the black smoke rising up. At night whe disking there was a glowing cone of fire coming out the exhaust. I miss that tractor..... :(
