Ford 900 opinions

Seller does not know what he has and/or it's a scam.

There are two different tractors pictured. The first one appears to be a hybrid.

I might call but would not answer email.

so - this has to be a 9X1 tractor, since it's a diesel engine, right? - the grill is 900 series the fenders are 9X1 - -

the red on the engine and I think on the sheet metal is relatively fresh - the wide front and transmission back are faded, and I'm not sure they are consistent with each other

no power steering, the leveling box is a recent replacement and it doesn't look like the paint on the top cover matches the rear axles -

air filter doesn't match anything appearance wise - replacement steering wheel of the wrong style - fenders are rough, but serviceable -

I think I can make out two holes on the clutch linkage that suggest it might have live power takeoff -

I suspect it's an assembly of parts from 3+ donor machines, altho the pictures suggest who ever did it knew what he was doing -

I would be good to know the history of the engine, but for $2500 I doubt anyone now associated with the tractor did anything but superficial engine work -

That style air cleaner didn't come out until late '62 so it might suggest an engine transplant. The 901 would have had the interchangable front and if the wide front was of a 700 it would have had to have been off a '57, not a problem. Grill is off a 700/900, still not a problem. Oh, wait I see it has an NAA front emblem so it must be a 1954, LOL. My point is it's not all original but it doesn't make it a bad tractor. If you are planning to use it in an antique tractor pulls I would run the numbers on it. Most of the clubs I pull at are '59 and down.

Guy I go to church with is going to rake hay with it. He does about 40 acres. He has a couple "new" tractors but loves the 900/901 fords.

I agree that the row crop was put together from at least a few different machines. The decal on the hood says 941, which would be a 4 speed transmission, but the pictures clearly show a 5 speed shifter. The badge on the nose is from an NAA.

mutt tractors can be fine. My mowing tractor is a 950 put together from about 7 other tractors. as long as all the holes for bolts line up and everything fits, you are good to go. I like keeping clutches with trannies.. and when mating old to new, count splines and watch engine plates.. also look at brake pedal locations.. otherwise the big parts usually fit together like lego's
