Ford 2000 3 cylinder gas think its a 1968 model

Began running very very rough blowing lots of black out in puffs, seemed to be missing.

after while didn't even want to start so I
Changed the plugs, cap, rotor, rebuilt carburetor, and still no start does not seem to be blowing any type of fumes out at all. It also appears to not be even trying to start when cranking, carburetor is getting plenty fuel I can smell it if I keep cranking and will flood it.

Checked spark at each spark plug when cranking and they are getting a nice blue spark on each one. Cant figure it out.

the only thing that I want to replace that I haven't is the key switch cause sometimes when I go to shut it off I have to play with it but not sure if that would stop it from starting when I can see the idiot lights on the dash are working.

Any Ideas?

Hi Aron

Puffs of black smoke when it was running. Ok have you checked the air filter? Sounds like not enough air to burn all the fuel? May be an oil bath type or could have been converted to dry element filter.

Regards

Matt

Pulled the air filter totally in fact disconnected it from the carb for now till I figure why I m not getting anything out the stack now.

Not starting now might not be related to the original problem. Have you checked the choke cable? The one on my '73 4000 broke right at the set screw that holds it in place at the carb last year and it took me a while to realize what the problem was.

No its not the choke cable cause I've had the carburetor off choke is working I cna see it moving.

It is good that you have gas to the carburetor. Is it getting into the cylinders? A "flooded" carb is not indicative of flooded cylinders.

Have you pulled a spark plug after cranking the starter to see if any gas is getting into the cylinders?

Have you checked the valves to see if they are adjusted properly and not sticking?
