OT - interior and dash lighting issues on a 2007 gmc 2500

At work we have a 2007 gmc 2500 diesel. We did a partial dash removal to work on the steering column. Put back together.

dash indicator lights ( battery, brakes, etc ) all work. LED odometer works. Dash illumination that comes on with the headlamps does not work, overhead dome lamp and overhead console does not work.

Appeared to be only 2 large connectors of wire harness that had to be removed to set dash out.

Any ideas on what would only effect headlamp illumination of the dash, but not the indicator lamps themselves?

For instance, insert key, turn on, and you get the usueal red and orage lamps that come on / test real quick. it's just when driving inthe dark, you can't see the dash because it's backlighting stopped.

Already checked fuses.

Ideas?

Is the little switch that dims the instrument illumination plugged up? That?s where I?d start looking

Hmm, does it ha e its own connector and plug?
O ER in the drivers side fuse box access, there is a short wire harness and plug the size of a sugar cube dangling.. Maybee it?
