I posted about my steering on my 800 a month ago and still have not got it fixed. But I have a chance to buy a complete steering box off a 640. Will this interchange--same thing? THANKS---Tee

Yes, they are the same, as long as both are manual steering or both are power steering.

800 steering shaft/tube is taller IIRC.
Sheetmetal moved up to make room for the larger gas tank.
Might be able to use internal parts/lower portion, not sure.

I just checked the parts site, both call for the same steering shaft.
So much for that memory, eh?

I think that the sheet metal on the dash just sits up higher closer to the steering wheel on the 800/801/4000 models than on the 600/601/2000 models.
