Slow lift on my 641

What does it indicate if the lift on my 3 point lifts very slowly?

It stays raised, but it just takes awhile to lift after I lower it.

Heavy oil....I?ll check that. That actually makes a little sense. It was lifting fine a couple of months ago and I hadn?t used it since. My oil looks
clean on the dipstick.

What?s the easiest way to ?warm up? the oil without damaging anything? Lifting the 3 point with implements attached and heavily viscous oil
would damage seals, wouldn?t it?

Running the tractor for 30 minutes or so should warm up the oil. It is pumping all of the time. Doing work with it will warm it up quicker.

As to the original question about the lift being slow, have you checked the fluid for water contamination? If it looks like chocolate milk or a chocolate milk shake then it is contaminated and cold weather will make it ice up.

Don't check the oil when it's coil, check it after it has been pumped around. If there is water in the oil it will settle to the bottom after a few hours rest.

If the oil is indeed clean, but too heavy, try this as a test, dump in a quart of diesel fuel or mineral spirits. does the lift react faster? if yes, and it has been a long time since you changed the lift oil, or it is new to you and you don't know what's in there, go for a change with a utf oil. if in a colder environment, avoid the super economy utf oils.
