9600 Ford rear end

I have a 9600 Ford and I broke the spider
gear in the differential it was a one pin
with 2 gears
The local salvage yard sold me a 3 pin
differential with 4 gears out of a 9700 and
Sayed it would fit but the differential
lock side were the bearing goose on right
side is different it's bigger round it also
has a bigger bearing
Has any body tried to do this before

I've never tried to do what you're doing, but I suspect you could do the swap as long as you also used the bearing retainers that came with the donor diff. A careful study of the parts book should answer most of your questions.
