Power steering leak on Ford 7710

I have a 1983 model 7710, 2 wd, with cab, that started leaking fluid from what I believe is called the steering "motor" It's located at the base of the steering column. It's leaking up from the bottom just a little ways from what looks like a seam where it's apparently bolted together. Is this thing repairable, or do I need a new one? I haven't checked my dealer yet, but I've seen prices online from $550 to$1600!! And how hard is it to remove with the cab?

I have repaired dozens, the seal is made of rubber, looks like a tin can with both ends
cut out. Get a service manual, remove the sector and follow the directions. Replace the
shaft seal while you are there. Do not disassemble any more than you need to.

Iam planning to put seals in this part this spring. Is this the part behind the motor under the cab that you can see from standing on the ground?

IIuyc.......

either the steering motor is leaking or the lines are leaking. check lines closely for leaks but dont use fingers!!!!!

The parts he describes,, goes into the motor or controller. The big rubber mat behind it is for sound deadning on noise to the cab.

I have not had a steering motor fail yet, but lots of lines have leaked or failed. Some where it connects to the motor, other where the hose bends tightly.

Do not let high pressure ford hydraulic fluid get injected into your body as it will cause blood poisoning and or death.
