I would like to know if anyone has a air cleaner assembly for a '63 4000 172 diesel, they would like to sell.

Like the one in this picture.
I'm asking here first, because I'd rather give money to someone on here. I know I can buy a new one for around $50-$60. So if you have a used one, email me.

Thanks, Pat

Bill,
I want to thank you for the air cleaner. It was worth the drive to your place, if not only to meet you guy's. You and your wife are good people.
We told ourselves that we are going to make it out that way again, just to drive around, and see Memphis, and cross over the boarders to the other states. I always hear of all the model T's, and body parts that around that part of the country. I also need T parts for my coupe.
Thanks again, Pat

Finally just got home from picking up that loader. Darn it's cold out there. Needs all new hoses, and a bucket.
I got your e-mail with the pictures. I sent you a e-mail reply
Thanks, Pat

JWA,
I'm still going to give you a call. What part of Tn are you in? I'm 38 miles north of Crossville. 60-65 miles north west of Knoxville. I'm in Deer Lodge.
Pat

The cleaner I have is for a diesel and is in excellent shape. I am in Fayette county, about 50 miles east of Memphis. Glad to send you pictures if I had your number. Bill

After looking at pictures of them on line, I don't see why I can't make a gas one work, and look good. If it won't fit under the hood, I can make the mounting plate to work the same as a diesel one, and put it outside the hood.
I have a welder, I can bend/shape steel, and paint! LOL
New gas ones go from $39.00 with free shipping, to $55.00 & on up.
Thanks, Pat

Gas model model tractors used a smaller (6 volt) battery where the diesel was 12 volt. So the battery boxes are different. Everything else should fit right up - You already have the air cleaner screen in the hood.

Never really understood why Ford went to the trouble to configure a different air cleaner for the diesels?

JWA,
The first picture is a Diesel, the second is a gas.
But would it really take to modify it to work? I would have to see the gas one to what it'd take, if much. A elbow on the input, and I don't know what the exit looks like, whether it's up, or out the side.
I'll give you a call tomorrow. I have been waiting for a guy to call, so that I can go pick up a loader. I can't pass on cheap!
Thanks, Pat

I guess I was looking at one for a gas, or newer tractor. I didn't pay that much attention to it. I don't have much money, and can only buy one thing at a time. I figured I'd start looking for one now. My tractor is completely apart for repair, & painting right now. So I don't need it right now, but I will need it.
Thanks, Pat

If you could forward me the info on the pre-cleaner you found that is a great price. The last one I found I think the shipping was around 40.00 and the cleaner was over 200.00. Buy it quick before you lose that deal.

Buy all that you can find at $50-60. They are no longer available, and if they were they would sell for $352.49, and because they tended to take a beating there is no shortage of guys looking for them.

I dont know where you found a new one unless its for a gas model. They are made differently but might be made to work. I havent seen any new diesel types out there. Invest in a precleaner for it they are worth every penny, they keep a lot of dirt from getting to the oil bath.
