gear reduction staeters

Anyone have any experience with gear reduction starters on a ford 4000 3 cylinder diesel, I saw one online and thought it looked good.

Put one on my 4000 about 3 years ago, spins the engine over faster, only issue with the one I got is the wires are next to the block so you can't jump across the solenoid to start the engine like on the original starters.
My baler wiring has clips to attach the leads to the battery, on my Fords it was always easier to connect at the starter than under the hood, can't do that with this starter.

Their a little pricy but next time I need a starter for one of the other tractors I'll buy another gear reduction.

I don't know if this works for your starter, but it did work for the G.R. starter that I put in an 8N. The aluminum adapter plate on the drive end can be rotated by 90 deg by R & R the socket head counter sunk screws which hold the plate to the starter body. Maybe yours will do the same.
Then the starter leans out from the engine block and the wiring is easy to get to.

With most people, that would be a good thing.
