801 / 4000 4 cyl. radiator width?

I bought a new radiator for my 64 4000 and it is too narrow for the fan shroud or the shroud is too wide for the radiator. My shroud is aftermarket and so is the radiator so I do not know which one is wrong or if they are both wrong. The shroud and the last radiator are both 17 3/4 wide, but the new radiator is 17 1/4.
Does anyone out there know what is the correct width?

I checked one of my old ones, its 17 3/4.

riveroadrat has the same dimensions as my 64 4000. The shroud measures 181/4” outside
