Ford TW Series Exhaust

I have a question about the small tube that hooks up to the stock exhaust on my Ford TW-25, 35, and Ford 8730. What does that little tube do, and what will happen if i put a straight pipe on and just leave the little tube disconnected? Thanks.

My 8240 had an aspirator tube that drew air from the air intake pre -cleaner to help keep it clean and reduce how frequently you need to service the pre-cleaner. When the muffler rusted out, instead of a new $500.00 muffler I got a generic for $50.00 without the aspirator, and just check the pre-cleaner when conditions have been dusty.

(quoted from post at 10:39:00 12/28/17) Thanks, if i add an angle into the straight pipe will it do the same as the original or will it just not do anything?

You need the end of the small tube that is inside the exhaust pipe. If it is rusted badly where that tube goes into the exhaust you should see that inside the exhaust pipe it has an end that it needs to work.

The little tube is an aspirator, aka vacuum cleaner. It helps to clean out the air cleaner and pre-cleaner of dirt. Get ready to do more air filter changes if you leave it off.
