172 gas motor in a skid loader. I have 1, it is almost impossible to see the sides of the motor. I would
like to put a tank type circulating water heater on it. Can anyone tell me where the plugs are on the side of
the motor? I have 1 of the lower rad hose heaters on it, even replaced it. Gotta leave it plugged in all
night to do any good. Tank type on my diesels take 2 hours at the most. Thanks guys.

Not a lot of ports to get into the cooling systems on those engines. What is your access to the rear of the engine? Possibly an adapter going through the rear soft plug hole in the head? If you could do that, then maybe an adapter in the lower radiator hose to serve as the inlet for the water pump.

The link below is a general guide for external heater installs on engines. In general, you want the hot water from the heater entering the engine as far away from the thermostat as possible.

Absolutely no access to the rear of the engine. Will probably pull it next summer and see what I can find.

I'll see if our NAPA has a freeze plug heater after checking to see if I can get to the plug. Thanks.
