hydraulic fluid for naa

what type of fluid should i be using , i use the ' 54 in the winter to move snow. My local parts store is carquest and i"m hoping i can get it there. thanks for any ideas. chilling here in alantic canada.

Carquest tractor fluid I believe meets ford 134 spec plus some but I'm sure some others can say one way or the other for sure.

Best I can remember... your tractor... does not have wet brakes, wet clutches or hydrostatic drive. Original specs called for either m4864ab, or m-2c41. One is an 80-90w mild ep gear oil, the other is a very moderate [b:36bd004d36]tractor[/b:36bd004d36] hydraulic fluid.

You can run much newer formulas costing tons of money or run a formula that is closer to the original specification. MOST all universal tractor hydraulic fluids will meet or even exceed the original spec. AGAIN, due to lower hydraulic pressures, lack of wet brakes, wet clutches, hydrostatic systems that must have special fluids to work and work well, your tractor can take advantage of any UNIVERSAL TRACTOR HYDRAULIC fluids. Do not buy plain hydraulic fluids as they are straight mineral oils with no additives. Yes you can buy the newer oils that are made for more severe applications but will no help. If you run the tractor for snow removal, then you might consider a synthetic blend tractor hydraulic oil at a much higher price. Ford Tractors after 1964 needed a much newer fluid for the wet brakes and clutches, and after 1976, higher hydraulic pressures and the resultant heat bumped the specs up again. Hydrostatic trans bumped the specs up even more.

Even 303 tractor hydraulic oil exceeds m-2c41, m-c241a m-c241b, and even some of the later ford specs.[/i]

[quot e="sotxbill"](reply to post at 13:27:53 12/27/17) [/,]thanks for the info , i plan on changing it after the cold snap. I had to put the hot plate under her to get the hydraulics thawed out. Any suggestions on flushing it out or maybe i should add sea foam to help dry it out. Don't feel like taking it part right now . thanks for the help.

If you decide on 303, be aware that it does not have EP additives necessary to properly lubricate the differential. Any UTF that meets or exceeds M2C134D will have the necessary EP additives.
