Snowblowing with an naa

I've been told that snow blowing with an 8n or 2n without a step down transmission is just about impossible. How about with an NAA? Would
the step down still be necessary? The 3 pt hitch blower is 5 feet wide but don't know the make. Any input I'm sure would be helpful!

One that you back up to use? Don't bother on any Ford unless it has the 6-speed, 8-speed or Select-O-Speed. The 3,4 and 5-speeds are just too fast in reverse for a snowblower. The step-down or combo auxiliary transmissions do not help, as they slow the PTO as well. (One instance where a 4-speed might work is if it has the Howard aux. trans. But you'd be money ahead buying an 8-speed rather than trying to find one)

I agree with others on the ground speed is too fast. I had an ARPS 6' snowplow. Tried it on my 9n and on my 950. The 950 worked better but chute kept clogging up, Then step on the clutch and pto stops. Possibly a live pto would have helped. It did clear some snow but was not satisfied with so I sold it.

Yes, I believe I will reluctantly have to agree with you guys. I did see a you tube video of an naa snowblowing. He appeared to be going quite fast in reverse and the snow was being thrown quite a distance. However, there appeared to be only 5" or so of light fluffy snow, but nature doesn't always deliver the fluffy light stuff. Thanks.
