Somebody's dreaming!!!

Haha he couldn't spend 150 bucks on a gas tank after all that money on a rebuild so hacked open an otherwise nice hood to install a boat tank, and still expects top dollar, and since when does a SOS go 30mph? Even my much newer 3910 only does about 25 and I wouldn't want to go that fast on a tricycle front tractor for sure.

Reminds me of a hack job dune buggy I built out of a 1980 f150. I think they're worth about the same price but at least when I put a boat can in mine it want on top of the engine lol

If he get's anywhere near his asking price I'll be pricing my original unmolested 881 for over $10k.

I like my old tractor but for that price I'm cashing out.

I have a 1966 2110 with sos that has been clocked at 30 mph, no joke. 24 in. r4 rear tires. i hardly ever use 10th gear.

2110 had higher gears they were a municipal mowing tractor designed for higher speed transport

Indeed, still they will not approach 30 MPH with OEM wheels/tires and engine RPM.

Ford 8/9 series tractors with S-O-S transmissions will not make 20 MPH with OEM wheels/tires and at rated engine RPM.

My 51 and 52 8Ns with Sherman combination transmissions will outrun my 64 4000 S-O-S (if the grade is not too steep) and they will barely make 21 MPH at rated engine RPM.

Stories about vintage Ford tractors making 30 MPH (at rated engine RPM) with Sherman combination transmissions are sheer nonsense.

That said, I expect that both my 64 4000 S-O-S and my 51 and 52 8Ns with Sherman combination transmissions could approach 30 MPH with a piece of binder twine or baling wire on the governor rod, a not uncommon practice for going from field to field on public roads.

BTDT.
