does anyone have a good link to doing the head gasket on a 70's Ford 3000 tractor? Any info would be great.
thank you!!

Do you have a manual? If not you should get one, it will guide you through a head gasket change.

Without knowing anything about your wrenching skills it's difficult to give you much meaningful advice on this project.
These old tractors are pretty simple though and no special tools or skills are needed to change a head gasket.
I agree with JWA that you should get a manual and I also agree with el6147 that the I&T FO-31 is the one you want.
It's like a Clymers or Chiltons if you are familiar with those. The FO-31 does assume you have some basic wrenching skills and a basic set of hand tools.
While you have the head off I would inspect your bores for wear or possible damage. You can tell a lot about how much wear is in an engine by just observing how much ring ridge there is.
If you happen to have the correct measuring tools (micrometers and snap gauges) in your tool arsenal you could get some basic measurments and post them here so we can advise you better.
If not, good photos of your ring ridge could also help us make that determination for you.
Knowing more about the engine's condition we might advise that you do a simple "in frame" overhaul. An in frame is done without pulling the engine and would consist of new rings and rod bearings and a valve job. An in frame won't give you a new engine but would increase your compression and give you many more years of good service for not too much $. "Many more years" is assuming you are like most of us here who aren't real farmers but need a tractor for maybe 100 hours or less a year.
All in all though, you are starting with an outstanding model tractor that is worth spending some $ on to make it mechanically reliable again.
They are great old machines that will still do a lot of useful work for you.
I have that same tractor though mine is a diesel. I have and have had several other Ford tractors but my 3000 is by far my favorite. As I have said here before, my 3000 is the one they will have to pry from my cold, dead fingers.
This is getting kinda long though.
Welcome to the Ford Board.

HI
Thank you for the help! I ordered the IT-30 manual. It looks like the most compressive manual I found. I am a long time mechanic. I works mostly on older toyota pickup motors, Dodge cummins motor and most types of older motorcycles. I work at a machine shop that also has a guy who does heads. I will certainly have him overall the head while it is out. Hopefully the bottom of the engine is in decent shape. I may do a set of rings while I am in there.
I'll post of a few updates as the job progresses. Waiting on parts.

It sounds like you have plenty of skill so this old tractor will be a piece of cake for you.
Think of it as the same technology as a 65 Mustang, Ranchero or Fairlane 500 - surely not beyond your ken :)
Yes, do post updates.
We really do like these old tractors and someone here will be able to help with any questions you might have.

thanks! as soon as the parts get here and the sun pokes through the clouds I'll get to work on this tractor.
I'll post up some of the progress

Got the tractor in the shop bay and started to pull things apart. It looks to be in great shape! The exhaust manifold bolts came out without any issue! So theres that.

A few more with the head removed...
The oil was as black as I have ever seen. The pistons had some scoring near the top which doesn't worry me to much, normal wear and I don't see the rig needing rings and a hone just yet.
Next is removing the water pump and getting everything cleaned up and ready. The head gets a looksee after the christmas vacation.
