Can't Believe it's a 4000

Not sure who can rebuild a failed sos
for 800 bucks, just a couple parts will
add up to more than that usually, and
many are not available anymore either.
And I haven't seen a Ford loader bring
1500 bucks in decades, I think he is a
little off on his pricing. It could be a
4000 but the sheetmetal looks more like
801 series on the front.

That's definitely an '01 series grill, and the rear axle looks like a 6xx series as the top link mount isn't recessed like it would be on an 8xx or 4000 series, so yes I would say that it either a 671 or 681 since it's got the S-O-S trans.

-01 hood and grill, air cleaner piping is for a -000 or a very late model -01.
My 62 model 881 still has the air cleaner box under the intake and tall pre cleaner pipe that bolts to the side of the hood.
That ones pipe bolts to the top of the hood and the air cleaner is missing.
Appears to be some red paint in spots under the blue.

(quoted from post at 10:15:16 12/22/17) It's an 801 (pre '61) not a 4000. Sean looks like it's recessed
to me.

My 1955 640 is not recessed

Hood, rear axle and rear rims/tires all say 8**/4000.

That said, it surely will bring nothing close to $2650 in non operating condition.

More like $750 - $1,000 if the engine and FEL are indeed good.

The 600 and 601 series were not recessed. The 800/801 series were. Look at the photo in the ad. clearly not a 600/601 series.

801/4000 rear. Notice the ribs and larger bolts. This change was made in 1960. diesel came out in late '58 early '59. Don't see the ribs so not a 4000

I would like to ask a question if I may. In the picture of the rear axle, What are the two small tubes on each side for?

I barrowed the picture from above. I hope you don't mind.

Thanks, Pat

The tubes are for storing Linch Pins when not in use. Ours were on the fenders. I don't remember if we moved them or if they were on the fenders to begin with.
