Jubilee gaskets

Should the gasket between the transmission and differential housings go on dry or should a gasket cement be used?
Also same question for the axle housing to differential.

I dont think the factory used a sealer but they are better gaskets to me. I always try to get the old ones off in 1 piece. If you just want to seal them, Hylomar is a very good gasket sealer that sets firm but not hard. Rolls Royce developed it I think. It remains tacky and doesnt glue itself to the mating surfaces. It drys fast but doesnt dry completely so you have to take one finger and smear it on thinly. It would be good to test it on a piece of paper to see how it works. You can stick your gasket to 1 side and it stays pretty good. It will squeeze flat when you bolt them together. If you dont want any on the outside surfaces to interfere with painting just wipe the inside to middle surfaces.

If the surfaces are clean and free of old gasket material, you shouldn't have to.
