Ford 7412 loader cylinder rebuild

I am trying to rebuild the cylinders on a 7412 Ford loader. The one local Ford dealer says they need an SML+5 digit number off the cylinder. The only letters and numbers on the lift cylinders are hph88 and the bucket cylinders hoh88.

Does anyone know anything about these loaders. The kits are very high and I don't want to buy the wrong one.

Take it to a hydraulic shop but be wary about how "professional" they are. They should be able to get you seals at a better price. I took a pair of good cylinders to a shop that did a job any shadetree mechanic could do. They didnt test them before ripping them apart, there was nothing wrong with the cylinders but they butchered them with a torch and pipe wrenches. They also wiped my hard chrome off sanding the vise marks off the rod. Make sure they have the tools to do the job right. Bring them to them extended and tell them you want to see them extended when you pick them up so you can see their work. Get an estimate, Take pics.

I did take them to a local hydraulic shop they are good honest guys that sell parts or do work. He said he couldn't match up any seals in his books. He told me they were probably special for Ford. He told me he could convert it to a lot cheaper seals for $150 to $200 each. Which if I had the money would probably be the best because Ford kits are $137 & $94 each for the highest kits and my luck are the ones I need.

I don't know about the 7412, but 7415 was built by SMC/Alamo, formerly Schwartz, for New Holland. Perhaps the 7412 was as well.

If you contact someone in the service department thats been there for a while he might know what you need. Just tell him you want to be sure about getting the right parts.

I have rebuilt quite a few hyd. cylinders. We have a company called Seals Unlimited that sells seals . You have to take old parts with you and they can match them up by size. I needed seals for a backhoe swing cyl. Ford wanted around $100 and paid around $18 there. I think they are a nationwide company. Most Hyd. Shops can also get them. Good Luck

Yea right I think all the old timers left. We use to have a good local dealer about 30 mi. from the house. You know the type that always asked a ton of questions but you just about always got the right part. They closed turned it into a JD dealer and before they closed they got rid of all of their good help. Now I got two dealer one about 40 mi. away and the other about 70 mi. away that don't know what to order. Not saying the first place would of got it right the first time but they would of ordered one and checked it out right their.

I looked up a 7415 and mine does look a lot like it. Do you know were to get parts besides Ford?
