Water in tranny

1967 4000. I am getting water in my transmission. I
was told there is an o ring on the shifters under the
spring. Does anybody have any input on this or know how to
access the o ring.

Does it sit out?
Some may leak in around the shifters but most times it condensation from temperature changes that causes the trans case to sweat.
My got water in the trans even with a canopy on the tractor.

Drain it out and put in some fresh.

Does it rain where you are? Rain is when the water vapor that is in the air condenses due to a temperature drop. If you get rain, vapor is condensing on the inside walls of your transmission at the same time and it adds up over a few months.

It sits out. With in couple months all the fluid looks like milk. I?m jot thinking just condensation. Looks to be a lot of water getting in.
All so what fluid should I be running. I was told to run 393 but seeing now 80w90

Buy a tarp.

I ran that and 134. 134 was noisier but shifted smoother, especially in the winter. Second the recommendation of get it under cover, tarp, shed, or what you have available. A good fitting boot usually suffices for the shift levers but out of the weather is best.

How often and how hard do you run it? Running the tractor hard frequently will help boil off water from condensation. If it sits for long periods of time between running it and if it's not run had enough to get everything good and hot then the water from condensation won't be able to boil off and so each time that it cools down after being run it will add more.

I put a 5 gallon bucket upside down on over the gear/range shift levers on my '69 4500, otherwide i'll drain a gallon of water out.

Make sure the boots are good and put a bucket on it anyway

Every winter I think about that subject for you guys in Northern climates. I don't have a problem down here even though I try to get a piece
of machinery hot every time I start it.
