601 front end on 3000 tractor?

601 engine won't bolt to a 3000 trans, starters on the wrong size as well as the had pump.
Not sure if any of the 601's axle parts will interchange but I don't think the main center support will bolt up.

What's trash about the 3000's engine and axle?

65-75 2000-3000 are the same but they did make a change in the axle in 70.
2600-3600 parts should also work.

Your not giving a lot of info.
What hit it?
How bad?
Have you taken anything off to determine what all is damaged and needs replaced.
Is the grill shell and radiator damaged as well?
If it broke the mounting tabs off the block it's likely not worth fixing unless you can find a junk doner tractor.

As Destroked said, it would help if you gave us more information - what parts were damaged, how badly, etc.
They do not charge by the word here. Pictures would help a lot too. If you don't know how to post them you could email them to me and I could post them for you. Others could too.

I do not yet own the tractor. Older couple. Looks like he ran into something. Front tin and radiator are toast. Axle bent backwards. They tell me engine and axle mounting point are ok. I need a tractor like this. I can afford this one and find an axle etc.

Ok, not as bad as I thought, but depends on how much they want.
Good grill shells are hard to find, repops cost a few hundred.
A good welding shop can straighten the center axle and radius rod or you can find them at a salvage yard.
Shop around for a good price for the radiator.
If it has power steering the steering cylinder could be bent.
Look on the trans case where the radius rod connects, make sure nothings broke or cracked.
If it's sheared the bolts it's fixable with some work, if the trans case is damaged it's nothing but a parts tractor

One fender is missing and the other is laid over indicating it's rusted out, right rear tire looks to be badly worn.

How long's it been setting and will the engine turn, can't tell if it has a rain cap on the muffler.

Grill shell, radiator, axle and radius rod repair or replacement, any other small parts can put the cost to repair the front over a grand pretty quick.
Rear tire and a decent set of fenders can hit you for another grand.

One has to be careful with a tractor in that condition, you can get upside down in it with repair cost pretty easy if you have to give much for the tractor to start with.

I've fixed worst but I had a good parts source.
I've also scraped better.

If the engine is good in that tractor my brother has (I believe a 1967 year model) 2000 gasser. Everything is good except for the engine, water got into the exhaust, and into the number 1 cylinder. Had to drill holes in the piston to break it apart so it could come out, that piston was really seized in it.

They changed the axle design in July 70 on those tractors.
Look on the flat pad behind the starter for 3 rolls of numbers, that will help ID the model and year in was built.
Flat side hood and power steering pump indicate it was built after 9/68.

Is that a broken and mashed power steering line by the oil fill cap in the first photo, might want to ask if the power steering was working before it was wrecked.

It belongs to my brother, get 3 practically brand new tires (2 front, 1 rear). He rebuilt the steering box, it was a running tractor until it rained in the exhaust, he bought it for a project to fix, and sell, but he's got too many projects. The complete tractor is there, $1500 cash takes it all.

ptfarmer: That's not a 67 model.
Grill is for a model built after 4/68
They did't start casting the blocks for spin on oil filters till 11/69

Look on the flat pad on the clutch housing behind where the starter bolts on for three rows of numbers.

Post the numbers so we know the year and model of the tractor

It's going to be a 70 or later model and will have all of the correct parts for the wrecked one corelokt is looking at.

I called my brother, he says it should be a 1972 year model (according to his friends father who bought it brand new).
