7740 SL Ford tractor.

i went to look at this tractor and its pretty decent clean tractor. has 3 point hitch also, has loader, has 4 hyd. outlets. cab. a/c. checked serial # and it appears to be a 1992 model. could not agree on a price so came back without it. he wants 33,000 , i think way too high. what is your thoughts? serial # is BD23346. tires appear to be the original firestone's all good shape. its been shedded so paint is good.

Agreed, seen them at farm auctions as low as 13k as described above plus FWA and approx 4200 hours. Highest about 22k in really good shape with fewer hours.

It sounds like it is probably worth the high end of the range, which would put it at around $23,000.

19.8k to 24.1k is what a 2wd cab 7740 sl shows in my last blue book.. but its two years old now.

That sounds a bit rich... but that would depend on your local market. Around here, priced in Canadian dollars... for a later clean tractor with those hours... that's not really out of line on the ask, but I would expect the seller to give a fair bit just the same.

That said... it is highly unlikely that the tractor had Firestone tires off the line. Most likely they're changed at least once given the hours and age. That's also a lot of money considering it's a 92... and I wouldn't bet the hours are correct either, but who knows.

yes its canadian money. looked it over pretty good. head has not been off . cant tell on the oil pan. has had the water pump replaced. inside of cab is pretty decent also . plus i didnt like that tractor was England made. prefer our home style tractors.
plus it says it was $36,000 in 1998. so in 1992 it must have been what he is asking for it.

As equipped... it would have been considerably more than that in our dollars in 1998 (new). Probably closer to 50k. I wouldn't worry about it's origin. They're a good solid tractor. Biggest thing I don't like about the brit tractors is their affliction with cables.. Around here they freeze all the time and require replacing every year or two.
