A friend of mine told me about Search Tempest to search all of
Craigslist at one time instead of individual places.Wondering if
anyone has used it and what they thought. Anything from Ford
tractors to Dodge trucks (common searches for me).
 
i use search tempest, works really well, scans all of craigs list for what ever you are looking for. you can control the search area.
 
You enter your search words, your zip code, and how many miles away you wish to search.

It generally works very well, but:

They have a love-hate relationship with CL, and so it changes from time to time. It used to be a lot neater and more up to the minute. Still
good, but....

Distances are approximate, of course.

Spelling counts. Folks who can't spell and list a dode pickup or call it a Ram or a Chrysler product instead of a Dodge and you will miss those
ads. Kinda up to a seller to put properly spelled key words in their ads!

I used to like it a lot better than I do now.
Lately it seems every ad I try to look at has already sold
or expired and newer ads that I can see on CL don't show up.
Still, you can easily search a much wider area if you're looking
for a specific, slow selling item like that hard to find tractor part.
 
If you have a smart phone there is a free app available called If This Then That, which has a Craigslist search function and a whole bunch of other stuff (some useful, some useless, some just :roll: ). You search for something in Craigslist, copy the address, and receive an email when something meeting your criteria is posted.
