641 proofmeter

I have a 641 that didn’t come with a proofmeter (tach) installed. Where does the cable get screwed into? Can someone send me a pic?

Goes to nose of hydraulic pump.

It screws onto the end of the hydraulic pump. Clean your threads good. If you start getting oil out that end it needs a new oring and gasket. You might want to grease the upper end of a new cable. I've heard the import tachs are'nt that great. you could look for one on ebay. No pix.

Make that a used OEM one.

I have another question.....

If you had a dash panel that never had a proofmeter installed in it, what would be the MOST effective way to cut a hole in it to mount the proofmeter?

It'd be nice to use a Greenlee knockout punch to get a really clean
hole but the big ones are expensive and you need about 3 3/8" which is
an odd size. I suppose I'd try a jigsaw with a very fine sheetmetal
blade freehand then clean up the jaggies with a file. Fortunately the
proofmeter will cover the hole so perfection is only a matter of
pride.

Yeah, the proof-meter bushing. If your tractor never had a proofmeter
you may be missing the bushing and proofmeter drive internals.
