Need to replace the water pump on my 1977 2600 diesel tractor. looking up the parts on this site it lists a couple of pumps. one is for a BSD326 engine, how do I identify what motor?
What tips or tricks can anyone share about this job? plan on replacing hoses and thermostat while I'm at it.

It list 3 pumps
1 is the complete pump with back housing $121.70
2 is just the pump with a dual groove pulley $71.69
3 is just the pump with a single groove pulley $42.74

All you need is the $42 single groove pump but I'd get the $.58 back housing gasket to. It's easier to pull the whole assembly, swap pumps and reinstall the complete unit than to scrape the gasket off the back housing on the engine.

The 3 or 4 bolts that fasten the pump rear half to the block also help hold the front half on. If you split the pump, the rear half will fall away from
the block.

The single pulley pump is what it took. The gasket for the rear housing came with the pump. The 4 9/16" headed bolts hold the complete unit to the block, the 1/2" headed bolts hold the water pump to the rear housing. I assembled the pump to the rear housing and then just installed it all as a unit. Hardest part of the job is removing the frt. grille cap and the radiator. It was all pretty straight forward, just time consuming.
