'64 4000 wide rowcrop engine mounts

I was looking at my front steering assembly for leaks and noticed that where the front of the engine bolts up that there seems to be a 1/8" gap between the engine flange and the pedestal mount. It looks like someone put rubber washers in the gap. The oil is breaking down the rubber. I'm just trying to figure out why it would have that gap. Any ideas?

There was rubber bushings in there when new with a sleeve for bolt to titen to.

Thanks for the reply, I thought they would bolt up just like the all purpose type.
