I don't have the tractor split yet, but the problem is that I cannot get the pto to engage without grinding the gears. This tractor has the eight speed transmission, with the two stage clutch. I,m guessing that I will need the complete clutch pack. My question is, will the clutch pack need adjusting for the PTO or will it be ready to install?

It *should* come pre-adjusted and ready to bolt up, although that has not always been my experience. What you will also need is a centering tool, as though clutches are all but impossible to install without one.

Does the pto stop when the clutch is all the way to the floor with something hooked to it? The grinding can be caused by (cold) fluid coupling between the shafts. DId someone adjust the clutch linkage? Just a couple of thoughts.

Most automotive clutches come with a line-up shaft, but don't count on it if this clutch is coming from a local-area rebuilder. You may wish to verify before purchase.
