Teflon tape hydraulic pump plug ??

I recently obtained a ford 861 tractor. Wondering if there is any issue with placing Teflon tape on the threads of the bleed plug at the top of the hydraulic pump?

Also the hydraulic fluid dip stick has two sides with wildly different marks for full. Any help on which side to read and under what conditions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Dan

Most say don't use tape on hydraulics.
Reason is a lot of people don't know how to use the tape. When wrapping a fitting they have let the tape go over the end of a fitting. What happens then is that piece of tape gets cut off when the fitting is tightened and then this piece enters the system causing problems.
There are better choices for thread sealers.

Can't say for sure for an 800, but that dipstick (maybe the same one?) on a 900 says something about the front pedestal on one side & is used to measure the lubricant level there. The other side is for the hydraulics.

I use PTFE compound :
