Hi Iam new to site and this is my first tractor. I have a 1961 841 with 3 point problems. It lifts good but will not come down. I took the plug off of the small plate on top and pushed down on the arms and got a bath with the oil. After I cleaned everything up I put the plug back in and tried the lift and it went right up like it should but will not go back down. Is there a valve or something that is stuck or what? Sure could use some help here. Thanks Bill

he control valve does many things along the length of its spool AND one of those things is to open a port to provide a dump path for the lift ram, similar to your plug removal.

So does that mean the control valve is bad and where is it at?

ot positively, since there are many connecting fluid passages that could be clogged or the spool just isn't moving to correct position, due to wear, bent or broken linkages.
Where? On bottom of lift cover in ram assy casting, first pix. Second is not exactly your tractor but close enough for illustration of control valve linkage & 3rd is flow diagram illustrating ram cyl dump path.
