Ford 5000 for blowin snow

I am considering getting a 5000 as something I can use with a 6ft snow blower, and I am curious if anyone here have experience using this tractor on a 3 point snow blower? If not, can you recommend a good tractor with 60 plus HP for snow blowing. I don't want to spend more than %5000

Depends I guess on where you live and the snow you get, but I got a 39 HP tractor and a 5 foot blower and it will handle any Wis. snowfalls I have used it for. Heavy wet snow is a challenge. Hydrostatic transmission allows me to go at whatever speed the snow requires.

I love a 5000 as much as the next guy, but I can?t think of a worse choice for a rear facing 3 pt smowbloiwer. 2 reverses. One too fast, one too slow.

I am looking for a slow reverse, I would think this would ideal for blowing snow

I've run a 6' snowblower behind either my 4600 or 7600 for the last 20+ years. High reverse is too fast for anything more than a couple inches of fluffy snow. Low reverse is really pretty good for most conditions. Something in between would be nice, but isn't a must. At times, even low is too fast.

I have a 7 foot 3pt snow blower, it has worked well with my Ford/NH:

7700 85hp. It has 4 reverse gears, more power than needed for the size blower kinda hard on the blower, and I have the wheels spaced to almost 8 feet so it doesn't fit in runs over a couple inches of snow on each side. The cab is nice.

1720 with loader, 27hp. Technically this shouldn't have enough hp, but it has the 4 reverse speeds so it works well, just have to pick a slow enough speed. With the loader on the front, and it starts well on cold temps, this ends up being the rig I use the most.

960 45hp. With only 1 reverse speed this is the hardest to spouse, I have but rarely.

5000 60hp. Since it has hi/low option and is set on 30 inch rows, it is probably the perfect tractor for my blower, but without a cab and without a loader, I tend to pick one of the top 2 on the list. Certainly a nice fit tho. If you have a more standard 8-2 speed you have a few less choices on reverse speeds, but it would work ok I would think even with only 2 reverses.

Does the 5000 have dual power? that would give you 4 reverses.

I have a 73 3000 and it will handle a 6.5 foot snowblower in up to 8 inches of light cold snow fine in Low reverse. More than that and I have to feather the clutch.

5000 has independent PTO, so would be better than a 3000. 3000 could have live or non-live PTO. Live would be better than non-live, but independent is even better yet, especially in conditions where you must feather the clutch. If you push the clutch in just a little too far with live PTO then the blower will lose power and momentum. With independent PTO you can push the clutch in all the way and the PTO will continue to be fully powered.
