1967 4000 3 cylinder lift housing

So with all the troubles I have been having/posting
about to no avail I am left with no choice but to
purchase a new to me but used lift cover assembly.
$800 later hopefully I will be back in gear to use this
machine. Old tractors ain?t cheap.
If by chance this does not fix the issue where can I
look next. Already have new pump.
Lift will work with no implement but nothing when
hooked up. Thank you.

There's not a lot to the lift systems one these tractors, most times a few simple adjustments will get them working.
Not sure where your looking for parts but Messick's and part spring are a couple good sites.

I've have problems following this since you've started 5 threads on the same problem.

Are you on modern or classic.

I don?t know if modern or classic. Don?t know what
that is. I do the different post to draw more attention
and address different problems. I am to the point of
needing the machine and just find a fix quick. Every
time we adjust something the piston o ring blows.
Tired of troubleshooting and spending money here
and money there.

Do you have a I-T or factory service manual for setting the adjustments?

I when back and reread all if your post and never seen where you had said the piston oring had blown before now.

There's a few on here that know these lift systems better than I do, I've rebuild and adjusted a few,as I own 3 different versions of the 4000 and have worked on all of their lifts.

Most of the responses you've got have been by those guys that are very knowledgable about Ford tractors of that model, bouncing around and starting multiple threads about the some problem won't get more responses, they'll get tired of it and quit responding at all.

Now, did you get the correct ring for the unloader valve?
Did you figure out where the small allen screw came from?
What adjustments have you done?

I haven't seen much of anything in these post about diagnostics, just 'hope' and replacing parts. A person needs to understand how anything is supposed to function before he has a chance of figuring out why it doesn't function correctly. Guessing & replacing parts seldom ends with the desired result.

Since you are starting over with a used cover you need to assume that it needs a rebuild and replace all of the seals and O-rings before trying it on the tractor.

I have IT Manuel. Me and a guy from our old ford
dealership shop adjusted the draft spring and
control valve spring I believe it was 2 times. Both
times blew the piston o ring. Pulled the inspection
plate off left side oil is going everywhere as if
cylinder is cracked or unable to make a good seal.

Another thing I forgot to mention/ask. When I ran the tractor and then removed the cover fluid looks milky looking from a lot af air mixed in. Is this common.

Milky oil is common but pretty much all of us YTers have always thought that it was water not air. A test is to put a drop on the end of something like dipstick and heat it. Water will cause it to spit when it vaporizes. The moisture comes out of humid air condensing inside the case. This happens constantly but normally working the tractor drives the moisture out the next day.

Give god the glory the new lift assembly fixed the problem. It has a minor hiccup but I can live with that. Thank you all for the advice and suggestions. I learned a lot from this adventure. Merry Christmas.

Lift working good. Pto is very sluggish on engaging. Takes minute or so at idle or have to run rpm up high to engage. Any suggestions.

PTO is independent with a hydraulically controlled clutch. things could be gummed up from the water that was in there. You could try draining the fluid and filling it with some diesel fuel, acetone and rubbing alcohol mixed together and run it for a short while while engaging and disengaging the PTO repeatedly to try to flush it out some more. The alcohol will help remove any water that is still in the system and the acetone works as a detergent to clean out any dirt/grime/gunk. Some folks use ATF instead of acetone. After that drain it again and fill it with fresh fluid.
